Shoemaker_GeraldAge 86, of Minneapolis, born August 18, 1926 and passed away June 16, 2013. He was a loving husband, father, and grand- father. Jerry served in the US Navy, and 32 years with the Minneapolis Police Department where he retired as a Captain. Preceded in death by parents Cash & Elvina, and brother Duane “Buck”. Survived by beloved wife of 54 years Dianne; brother Herb (Marie); sister Beverly Green; children Kent, Kay (Marv) Rorvick, Patti (Ron) Jolin, Joel (Seong- Hak); grandchildren Inger (Wade) Tempesta, Britt (Bret) Kjellberg, Joe (Crystal) Jolin, Nick (Tina) Jolin, Katie (Mike) Kozicky, Ron Jolin, Ellie (Jake) Walvatne, Christopher Shoemaker, John-Paul Shoemaker, Tony (Robin) Rorvick; 30 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Went home to Jesus on August 20, 2013 at the age of 74 surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. Ronald was born January 18, 1939 in Minneapolis to Robert and Muriel Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon (Lieberg); sons: Craig (Joy), Todd (Peggy) and Kurt (Emily); mother-in-law, Elvie Peterson; grandchildren: Chad (Margaret) and Heather, Cassandra and Cory, and Emma, Claire, Evelyn and Adler, as well as a granddaughter-in-Christ, Danielle Walker. He was preceded in death by his parents. Ron attended Minneapolis Roosevelt High School and after graduation attended the University of North Dakota and the University of Minnesota. Ron was a Minneapolis Police officer for 26 years where he served as patrol as well as Head Canine Trainer for many years. He competed nationally and trained over 100 officers and their canines. While serving in Minneapolis, he was also deputized as a US Marshall. After retirement, Ron and Sharon wintered in Weslaco, TX for 20 years where they were involved in mission work in Mexico. Ron took two trips with his pastor and church to Peru. Ron and Sharon attended the First Baptist Church in Winnebago and also in Weslaco, TX. Ron had a deep love for the Lord, his family and friends and will be missed by us all.

Schliesman, Myron “Mike”

Myron Eugene Schliesman, 68, of Rochester, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013. Mike was born Dec. 11, 1944, in Beardsley, Minnesota to Raymond and Etta (LaCroix) Schliesman. Mike was proud of his Native American heritage and was a member of the Sisseton Wahpeton Sioux Tribe. He graduated from Minnetonka High School. Mike joined the U.S. Army in September, 1962 and was honorably discharged in September, 1965. He then attended the Minneapolis Police Academy and was the first Native American to be employed by the Minneapolis Police Department beginning his career in service to the neighborhoods of the 3rd and 5th Precincts. Through his career, he served on the first Minnesota Swat Team, the Departments of Homicide, Narcotics, Child Sex Crimes and Internal Affairs. He received the Medal of Valor along with many other awards. Mike’s career as a Minneapolis police officer was his dream job and he stated often, “There was not a day I didn’t enjoy going to work.” Mike was also active in and thoroughly enjoyed playing the trumpet for the Minneapolis Police Band and the Minneapolis Police Swing band. Mike retired from the Police Department in 1995. He is survived by his children, Ronald (Barb Clifton) Schliesman of Montrose, Nicholas (Robin Putnam) Schliesman of Burnsville and Stephanie (Matthew Reese) Schliesman of Duluth; six grandchildren; sister, Luella Tesch of Milbank, S.D. and his fiancĂ©e, Betty Tesch of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Raymond Schliesman and sister, Delores Heitela.

Survived by loving wife of 47 years, Barbara; son, Jeffrey; daughter, Tracy (Boyd) Kivley; grandchildren, Hunter, Parker and Nathan; sister, Marilyn Long; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by parents, Larry and Agnes. Retired from the Mpls Police Dept on August 10, 1990 after 23 years. Funeral Service Saturday 11:00 AM at Gearty- Delmore Plymouth Chapel, 15800 37th Ave North, with visitation one hour prior to service. Visitation also Friday 5-8 PM at the funeral home. Interment Sunset Memorial Park.

Survived by devoted wife of 56 years, Joan (nee Madsen); children, Lee, Jr. (Sally), Mike (Connie), Jodi Palmehn and Susan Lorge; daughter-in-law, Colleen Lorge; grandchildren, Heather (Damon) Sterzinger, Andrew (Raina) Lorge, Alison (Brandon) Rimnac, Jake (Dannika) Outland, Lisa, Kristina (fiancé Brian), Sarah and Kyle Lorge; great-grandchildren, Sylvia and Theo Lorge, and Madelyn Rimnac; brothers and sisters, Don Lorge, Bev (George) Hendren, Jerry (Barb) Lorge, Judy Lundberg, Jack (Debbie) Lorge, Robert Lorge, Linda (Bruce) Crandell; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sandy and Terry Thompson; many nieces and nephews.

Kath_Bruce67, of Minnetonka, passed away on Saturday November 2, 2013. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by wife, Kathy; children, Kristina (Ethan), Kurt, Erin and John; grandchildren, Addison and Aidan; sisters, Carlo, Orley and Kate (Steve); and many friends. Bruce was a retired Minneapolis Police officer. His passions were golfing, fishing, hunting and family. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 3 pm at the Cremation Society of MN-Mpls Chapel. A visitation will be held one hour prior with a reception to follow at Ballentine VFW Post 246. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred. Bruce’s passing leaves a huge hole in our hearts, he will be greatly missed.

Juntilla_EdwardAge 78, of Princeton, MN, passed away on November 10, 2013. Born December 21, 1934 in Minneapolis, MN to Adolph Edward and Lila Pearl Juntilla. Survived by wife, Doris; children, Lisa (Gary) Wanhope, Tim (Donna) Juntilla, Jennifer (Duane) Tingelstad, and Ruth (Dave) Rosseau; grandchildren, Tristine (Mike) Davis, Tania Juntilla-Wanhope, Michael Tingelstad, Jason (Amy) Tingelstad, Kelsey Houle, Carter Juntilla; great grandchildren, Darion, Ryanne, Nikko, Carter, Lathen, Collin and Kylar. Ed was a member of the USAF SAC division during the Korean War from 1952-1956. A lieutenant for the Minneapolis Police Department, he retired in 1985. Ed also was Commander and member of the American Legion Post 216, and member of the VFW and Knights of Columbus. He was on the Princeton Planning Commission from 1997-2011 and served as Commissioner of the Princeton Public Utilities until the present.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Janet, and parents, Arthur J. and Nora M. Giebel.
