Officer Jim Nelson
After 16 years of service to the Minneapolis Police Department, Officer Jim Nelson is retiring. During his time he served in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Precincts, as well as the Traffic Unit.
Some of Officer Nelson’s most memorable moments come from the day-to-day 911 patrol with his partners, and he believes the best memories will come from the relationships you build with your coworkers.
To the new recruits, he recommends that you simply enjoy your time on the job. Don’t stress over the drama you can’t control. He also says to do whatever you need to make every shift as enjoyable as possible because it’s a great job!
Outside of his work with the Department, Officer Nelson is the owner and broker of Timber Ghost Realty, a company that helps people buy and sell real estate in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Timber Ghost consists of several retired military and law enforcement officers, and it offers a cop discount. Now that he has retired, he will spend his time working with the realty company.
If you would like to contact Officer Nelson, you can reach him at (651)-325-1384 or jnelsonrealty@yahoo.com. If you would like more information on Timber Ghost Realty, visit www.timberghostrealty.com.

Some of his most memorable moments include the time he spent with the 6th Precinct as a young officer and the 13 years he spent in homicide, from 1991-2004, which were the “very busy” years.
For new recruits, Sgt. Krebs recommends keeping notes and photos of the special and unusual things you will be involved in during your career.
His plans for retirement include taking it easy and enjoying the free time. If you would like to contact Sgt. Krebs, you can send him an email at rrkrebs@comcast.net.

Sergeant Pat Nelson
During her 17 years with the Minneapolis Police Department, Sergeant Pat Nelson worked in a variety of areas, including 4th Precinct – Patrol, 4th Precinct CRT, as a SWAT Negotiator, Academy Instructor, FTO, as a Downtown Patrol Supervisor and in investigations in Crimes Against Children and Robbery. She just recently retired from service from the Department.
The two most memorable times in Sgt. Nelson’s career include her time working the 4th Precinct dogwatch and being a SWAT negotiator running SWAT mock operations.
For those just beginning their careers, she recommends to continue learning and remember that you are only dealing with a small percentage of the population. And finally, have fun!
Now that she has retired from the Department, Sgt. Nelson, who has finished her Ph.D., plans to work full time as a faculty member at Minnesota State University Mankato in the Law Enforcement Program, a transition that suits her well due to back problems.
